Our website is back! Technical issues, health, etc. conspired to make us miss important events and our holiday sale. The sale will now be a New Year’s sale. We changed our name, but we still have a fair amount of JazzPoetry Ensemble branded merchandise. We need to sell it so we can get new Make Jazz Not War! t-shirts. I’ll do a longer post about it, but the sale is on! Visit makejazznotwar.org/shop.
Now that we’re back on line, I’ll be sharing plans for a memorial jam session for citizen artist collaborators we lost recently: Richard Lopez, Ron Hope, Greg Ward, and Wahru Cleveland. These JazzPoetry Ensemble collaborators were extraordinary artists and human beings and deserve to be honored as they join the ancestors.
Richard Lopez’s piano anchored us in the ‘90s through the K2U years. Ron Hope’s percussion expanded our horizons in the middle’00s. Greg Ward was our producer and audio guru for over two decades. Wahru Cleveland’s drums lifted our MLK Day shows in recent years. We’ll be inviting artists who worked with the four of them to participate. April 30. The Vanderelli Room. Save the date.
